The Northeast Christian Academy library reflects the Christ-Centered philosophy of the school by communicating through books and media God's truth to the students and teachers. Our library contains over 12,000 holdings and serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grades. There are twelve computers in the high school area of the library that are designated for the use of secondary students and four in the elementary area where the younger students can do research and take AR tests.

Library Hours
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday -8:00 - 3:30 pm.
Policies
Students will be responsible for all library books and media material checked out of the library in their name. A fine of five (5) cents per day is charged for an overdue book with a maximum fine of $1.00 per book. If a library book is damaged or lost, the student will be expected to pay full cost to replace the damaged or lost book or other library materials. Students are permitted to check out one video on Friday to view over the weekend. All videos are due on the Monday following the Friday check-out. Students returning videos late will not be permitted to check one out the following Friday.

The three students pictured above had the highest percentage of correct answers on their Accelerated Reader tests and also met their individual goals for the first semester of the school year. Each of these students received a book from the librarians to celebrate their accomplishments!

Accelerated Reader
NCA is committed to the Accelerated Reading Program, a computer-based reading motivation program. The program is simple: the student reads a book and then takes a computerized test on the book. After finishing the test, the student earns a point score based on the difficulty level of the book and the number of questions he answers correctly. Read more |

Ballet Art
Inspired by a visit to NCA Library by the Houston Ballet, an NCA student's drawing of her favorite scene from The Nutcracker Ballet was chosen by the Houston Ballet in a contest that is sponsored each year for students in the Houston area.
Her picture will hang in the gallery at the Ballet. She also received tickets to attend the next performance. Congratulations!

NCA Library Birthday Book Club
Each year elementary parents may enroll their students in the Birthday Book Club. This allows students to be honored by the donation of a book to the NCA library in honor of their birthday. Celebrate your child's birthday with a gift all of the children at school can enjoy! Learn More about the Library Birthday Club

For a donation of $15 or more to the library, a book will be placed in the library in honor of your child's birthday. A permanent bookplate will be placed in the book and your child will receive a birthday certificate as well. During the week of your child's birthday, your child will be presented with the certificate in the classroom, we will sing Happy Birthday and present a special Birthday Poem selected in honor of your child's birthday. Your child will be the first to check the book out of the library. The birthday books will be kept on a special shelf after your child returns the book to the library for others to enjoy. Birthday books can be identified by the birthday sticker on the spine. Half birthdays can be celebrated for the summer born! If you would like to participate but have already celebrated a birthday this school year, we can either celebrate a half birthday or do a belated celebration as soon as possible; your choice! If you would like your child to participate, please return the Birthday Club Form and payment to your child's teacher.NOTE: Any funds collected over the cost of the book(s) will be considered a donation to the library
NCA Book Fairs
Each year the Library hosts two Scholastic Book Fairs; one in the fall and another in the spring. A variety of books are offered for purchase by students, parents and staff. The book fair profits are used to purchase new books for the library and to bring in authors and other special library events.
